What are the responsibilities and job description for the DRIVER position at UHS?
Diamond Grove Center is looking for a qualified transportation driver for our facility. Applicant must have a vaild drivers license, clean driving record, and must be flexible. Candidate must be able to function as a member of the discharge team and accepts responsibilities for specifically assigned duties, operates company vehicles in a safe manner, operating within all traffic laws and has a good knowledge of the service area and the most efficient routes needed to provide service.
- Displays good judgement as evidenced by reporting verbally and in written documentation, all clinically pertinent observations of patients.
- Advises appropriate personnel (RN in charge) of situations requiring nursing expertise of technical follow-up as evidenced by promptly and accurately referring questions or situations to the designated person.
- Exhibits self-motivated behavior in assuming additional responsibility when assigned and as situations indicate, to assure smooth functioning of the Transportation department.
- Seeks direction when indicated for unusual or non-routine duties or situations, asking questions appropriately and promptly to obtain the answer.
Knowledge of existing policies and procedures (Hospital, Admission/Business Office) and follow these guidelines in delivery of patient care as evidence by no reported incidents of breeches in policies and procedures.
Maintains proper records of mileage and turns in all charge gasoline slips for gasoline and other expenses correctly.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Conducts regular inspections of the vehicle to ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition.
- Monitors maintenance requirements of vehicle in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendation and reports any unusual information to the Maintenance department.
- Informs Plant Operation Director immediately of pending maintenance requirement(s) for the transportation vehicle.
- Communicate with the Dietary department to ensure snacks and beverages are on the transportation van for patients being admitted to Diamond Grove Center.
- Completes 15-minute checks, special observations, patient monitoring and timely accurate documentation.
- Displays knowledge of emergency equipment and procedures which are located on the van.
- Assists with maintaining the cleanliness of transportation van as evidenced by removing trash from the van daily.and adjust the reporting time due to seasonal
- Reports to duty promptly and as scheduled as evidenced by the time sheet and lack of excessive absence from work.
- Maintains professional appearance as evidenced by at no time being attired in unsafe shoes, accessories or clothing that is revealing while on duty.
- Wears hospital Identification badge always. Identification badge must be always clearly visible and above the waist.
- Establishes and maintains good rapport and working relationships with coworkers as indicated through relationships which are free of repeated incidents of disputes and friction.
- Promotes a work milieu of harmony and trust, learning and growth, as evidence buy utilizing open and clear verbal communication, by listening attentively and responding appropriately.

Attends the required mandatory in-services on an annual basis as evidenced by documentation.
- Maintains Crisis Prevention Intervention certification (CPI) and CPR certification as evidenced by current certification.

Qualifications
General Performance Criteria
Knowledge in transporting patients, vehicle awareness, mental health promotion and maintenance of high-quality comprehensive patient care.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma/equivalent, with experience as a Treatment Assistant (MHS) and experience.
Physical Requirements
Overall physical workload is medium. Must be able to transport referrals/admissions safely to the facility. Ability to communicate orally and writing with others. Must have knowledge of the admissions process, paperwork and entering the patient into Med-series. Position requires flexible hours. Frequent sitting/riding for long periods of time. Occasional operation of standard office equipment and computer. Frequent answering/using of telephone (cellular phone). Occasional conflict resolution; constant attention to multiple details. Frequent problem solving and decision making. Occasional exposure to stressful situations. Occasional exposure to body fluids and disinfectants.
