Recreation Therapist

Full-Time

 

The Recreation Therapist functions as part of the multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for the leadership of therapeutic activity groups, both on the unit and off the unit. Provides Expressive Recreation Therapy in group and individual therapy sessions.  Design milieu projects and complete ET assessments. The Recreation Therapist is responsible for ordering materials as needed and maintaining an organized activity room.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in activity therapy or recreational therapy, art or movement therapy is required.

 

EXPERIENCE:  A minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Activities Therapist in a behavioral health care setting is preferred. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills of current concepts in behavioral health and applicable treatment techniques. Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of child/adolescent growth and developmental stages. Experience with sexually reactive children and adolescents is preferred. 

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: CTRS Licensure at time of hire or obtainable within twenty-four (24) months. Primary Source Verification shall be required through National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification

 

Skills Required:  Empathy, time-management, psychotherapy, organizational skills.
