Mountain Youth Academy is centrally located near Johnson City, TN, Boone, NC, and Abingdon, VA. We are a 90-bed residential treatment facility and assist in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health issues for our young adolescent students. As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for our Residential Counselor position(s).
POSITION SUMMARY:
Mountain Youth Academy is searching for a caring and compassionate master’s prepared mental health clinician for the Lead Admissions Clinician position in our busy Admissions Department. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (include, but are not limited to, the following)
The Lead Admissions Clinician assists the department director with ensuring all intake/admissions tasks and activities are completed accurately and coordinates the intake workflow while on shift in the department. This position interfaces closely with both internal faciltiy staff, physicians, as well as external referrals including hospitals, patients, families, and community referral sources. The working position of the Lead Admissions Clinician assists in daily administrative duties of the department and ensures staff compliance with all policy and procedures and applicable mental health laws, codes, rules and regulations.

Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in social work, psychology or related field. Excellent communication skills, i.e., verbal and written. Ability to prioritize; work well under periods of high stress and pressure. Ability to multi-task and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Demonstrates an understanding of funding entities. Thorough knowledge of psychiatric services provided by the hospital. Ability to work flexible hours. Requires a basic understanding of computers, and accurate data entry skills. Knowledge of insurance contracts and payers. Knowledge of precertification for residential treatment. Experience gathering and documenting medical and clinical information to assess and staff appropriately with physician. Working knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addiction and recovery field. Excellent customer service skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, visitors, families and referral sources. Skill set to prioritize, assign tasks, and hold staff accountable for their completion.
Experience: A minimum of one to two (1-2) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting desirable. Working knowledge and experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities, and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
SERVICE STANDARDS/PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT FUNCTION:
· Promotes the philosophy, goals and objectives of the facility by becoming familiar with and complying with facility and departmental policies and procedures.
· Maintains licenses and certifications required for the position.
· Attends mandatory training annually to maintain competency.
