Canyon Creek Behavioral Health:

Canyon Creek Behavioral is open and serving the behavioral health needs of adolescents and adults in Temple, Texas and all surrounding areas of Central Texas. Our behavioral health center will provide treatment options for individuals struggling with psychiatric health, chemical dependency and mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.

 

Canyon Creek Behavioral Health is a 102-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in the beautiful Central Texas town of Temple, Texas.  Canyon Creek features individual units for adolescents, adults, and seniors, and offers inpatient acute care and intensive outpatient programs.  We are enthusiastic about providing compassionate health care from our team here at Canyon Creek Behavioral Health.

Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY:

The Lead Admission RN oversees the assessment, referral and admission activities during the assigned shift. The Coordinator assigns responsibilities to assure prompt response to patient needs reviews and maintains all documents and departmental logs and assigns physicians to admitted patients. The Lead Admission RN performs admission nursing responsibilities and provides telephonic and in person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. The Lead Admission RN will supervise unit staff, including daily schedule assignment; call management, orientation and report staffing needs to the Intake Director.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate knowledge and skill in provision of services to varied populations including children, adolescents, adults, older adults and dually diagnosed patients in an inpatient and partial hospital setting.

 

Education/Licensure: RN  from an accredited nursing program required.

 

Experience: Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting. Supervisory experience preferred.

 

Additional Requirements: CPR certification, Handle with Care and Verbal De-Escalation training within 30 days of employment prior to assisting in a restraining procedure.  Training will be offered during new hire orientation.  May be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
