Position Purpose:

The Nurse Manager supervises the delivery of nursing care provided by professional and support nursing staff on a designated unit. Care is provided in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of The BridgeWay. The Nurse Manager prescribes; coordinates and delegates care utilizing the nursing process that is integrated into the multidisciplinary treatment team plan of care. The Nurse Manager is accountable for nursing care activities on a shift basis and is responsible for promoting and enhancing professional nursing practice on the units. The Nurse Manager shares responsibility and accountability with the Chief Nursing Officer for the delivery of quality nursing care for patients. The Nurse Manager oversees assigned unit activities for the facility.

Qualifications

Licenses or Certifications:   Current nursing licensure in the state of Arkansas.  Current CPR and CPI certifications or must obtain within 2-weeks of hire.

 

Total education, vocational training, and experience:  Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.  Working knowledge of psychiatric nursing modalities preferred.  Documented experience working with children (ages 5-12), adolescents (ages 13-18), and/or adults (ages 18 plus) preferred. BSN required or appropriate experience in a behavioral health setting and supervisory experience. MSN preferred.

 

 

Skills and Abilities:

 

·         Effective oral and written communication skills and knowledge of telephone etiquette is required.

·         Ability to interact in a positive manner and to communicate well with patients, families, co-workers, supervisor and other hospital employees.

·         Ability to provide direction, support, and supervision.

·         Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

·         Must possess knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships, and processes, age specific growth and development, and limit setting.

·         Demonstrated leadership, communication, teaching and management skills.

·         Demonstrated competency in Therapeutic Boundaries, Search and Contraband, Risk Management, Infection Control, Common Psychiatric Diagnoses, Fire Safety, Behavioral Management, Programming and Documentation.
