The Nursing Supervisor - PM
Provides administrative and clinical supervision to all staff throughout the hospital on assigned shift. The Nursing Supervisor is a liaison to department directors and administration to insure coordinated and efficient operations of services and departments. The Nursing Supervisor promotes patient care consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Hartgrove Hospital.
Qualifications
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. The Nursing Supervisor must demonstrate flexibility and the knowledge and skills required to manage units providing care to a varied population including children, adolescents, pre-adolescents and adults.
Education: Graduate of Nursing Program. BSN Preferred
Experience: Three years clinical experience with inpatient behavioral health population, previous clinical supervisory role in psychiatric setting preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing principles, working concepts and theory, leadership skills, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management
Supervision Received: Director of Nursing and Asst. Director of Nursing
Supervision Exercised: All Staff on assigned shift.
Line of Promotion: Nurse Manager/ADON/DON
Working Conditions: Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General hospital
environment.
Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping.
