JOB SUMMARY: Provides Expressive Therapy Services to patients in in the PHP program within the therapeutic milieu. Works as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning, implementing and evaluating individualized treatment plans. The Activity Therapist also provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and activities of daily living.
To perform this job successfully, employee will need to assist in the creation and implementation of clinical programming for an adolescent and pediatric population in a partial hospital setting. Structure and run program/age specific therapy groups. Complete appropriate clinical documentation on all assigned patients. Work with the Intake department in maintaining a healthy program census. Provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu and crisis intervention and activities.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s Degree in a Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or other related area.
Experience: 3 years experience working with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.
Licensure/Certification: Ph.D., Psy.D., LCSW, LCPC, LSW or LPC license preferred.
Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of case management, discharge planning, group leadership skills, age specific growth and development, crisis and behavior management, family therapy theory and practice. Knowledge of theory and practice of psychosocial assessments. Able to work cooperatively with other hospital staff and involved community agencies. Good organization skills, as well as oral and written communication skills.
