Responsibilities
Palmdale Regional Medical Center serves the region by providing high quality medical services to residents of the Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding communities. With the recent addition of the Rehabilitation Institute, the hospital features 184 licensed acute care beds as well as inpatient and outpatient surgery, cardiac services featuring a STEMI Receiving Center (heart attack) and a 35-bed 24-hour emergency department. The Center for Wound Care provides treatment for people with chronic non-healing wounds. This comprehensive wound-healing service includes hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Palmdale Regional Medical Center is active in the community and regularly participates with the Antelope Valley Board of Trade, Greater Antelope Valley Economic Alliance, Chambers of Commerce and other civic and governmental groups. Position Summary
Under the direction of the Medical Director, Director of Respiratory Therapy, and Respiratory Supervisors (and/or designated charge person as indicated). A Respiratory Therapist is responsible to give skilled respiratory care and diagnostics according to the individual patient’s needs guided by policies and procedures.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Language Skills - ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations, to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients and the general public.
Mathematical skills - to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, dosages and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning ability - ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions, to interpret an extensive variety of technical/clinical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
One (1) year previous experience preferred.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
General education level (high school). One or 2 years post-secondary education program specializing in Respiratory Therapy.
REQUIRED LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS
Current California Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) training and PALS.
CPI is required within 30 days of hire.

Must work in a clean, well-lighted, well-ventilated work environment.
Occasionally subject to irregular hours
Ability to function in a busy environment with shifting and evolving priorities.
Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.
Stable emotional makeup required to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
Ability to handle emergency or crisis situations.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of hospital management and medical staff personnel.
Ability to communicate with patients, visitors, sales personnel and vendors.
Ability to maintain positive relationships and courteous interactions with hospital staff and the public.
