About the Position:
Southgate School, the educational program at Cedar Springs Hospital, provides classes and tutoring to students preK-12th grade. Our students may be with us for a few days or several months, which keeps our classes dynamic and exciting! “Classrooms” consist of students of various ages and academic needs. A typical class size is around twelve students. Some students may have course work from their homes school, requiring our assistance in a tutoring capacity, while other students will participate in the coursework we provide. The workday is from 7:30 to 4:00 with a thirty-minute lunch.

Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range student ages and abilities
• Flexible and able to manage a class of ten to fourteen students.
• Availability to substitute teach when a teacher is out unexpectedly or for scheduled personal days.
• Possess a Colorado Teaching license or ability to obtain upon hire.
Requirements: Requires organizational, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Skill in use and operation of a personal computer, including such software programs as Windows, Word, Excel, etc. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, regulatory agencies, etc. using strong interpersonal communications skills. Ability to exercise professional independent judgment in planning own work, formulating recommendations and making decisions. Working knowledge of state and federal educational laws.
Experience/Education: Endorsed in Special Education or and enrolled in a special education licensure program at an accredited university.
Licensure/Certification: Colorado Department of Education Teaching Certificate affective needs or generalist endorsement or eligible for emergency licensure/TTE High qualified. Preferred Special Education K-12, Perferred History 7-12.
