Incumbents perform safety inspections, investigate incidents, monitor and process worker's compensation claims, conduct safety training, maintain the environmental program, coordinate loss prevention efforts, and perform other safety functions to minimize risk to the Corporation.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Corporate HSER Sr Director and the SVP of Operations.
Responsibilities
Safety Program Management
Support as directed Corporate HSET program management, including interaction with Holding Company HSET stakeholders .
Environmental Program Management
Assists in the writing of documents and procedures to support program requirements.
Qualifications
Claim and Insurance Program Management
Assists in claims handling for Corporate and Headquarter incidents, including coordination with adjusters, insurance team and supervisors.
Must be prepared to absorb / learn OSHA regulations, systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
Must have a basic knowledge of general computer functions; internet software; spreadsheet and database software, word processing software and MS Office Suite.
Must be able to coordinate and complete training across multiple work shifts to ensure compliance.
Must have the ability to read and analyze general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and emails.
Ability to learn how to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general workforce.
Must possess a strong desire to provide excellent customer service solutions and communication skills to interact with coworkers and clients in a courteous and professional manner.
Be prepared to develop ongoing knowledge of the following subject matter areas :
Substance Abuse testing and procedures, Workers Compensation claims handling, HAZCOM, HAZWOPER, HAZMAT & OSHA regulations.
Be prepared to earn an OSHA 10 card and take online training.

The general work environment varies and includes but is not limited to, office space, equipment rooms, warehouse space, construction zones, field conditions and other environments.

Additional Environments : The environment includes work on a variety of client sites. Potential hazards include : limited or dimmed lighting, respiratory hazards, flammable & combustible environments, heat and cold stress, hazardous chemical substances, confined space locations, noise, static electricity, & adverse weather conditions.
In addition to hazards identified above, job hazard analysis may be required to be reviewed prior to work in some locations, for the purpose of environmental hazards identification.
Authorized Driver Requirement : Employee must have a valid driver’s license and three (3) year clean driving record. Employee must follow all Authorized Driver Policy and Procedures regarding approved vehicle usage.
All employees must pass Non-DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all UIC Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program guidelines and requirements.
