Position Summary
This position will join a multi-disciplinary research team conducting evaluation studies of nutrition policies. The primary responsibility for this role will be oversight and management of data collection processes and activities for a study examining youth exposure to social media advertisements. Secondary responsibilities will include administrative and research tasks to support efforts across other food policy evaluation studies as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
Research (Policy Evaluation):
Assist in the ongoing development and revision of research protocols and ensure all related research activities adhere to these protocols.
Manage study timeline and track deliverables as outlined in the scope of work.
Manage and train Graduate Research Assistants to perform the data collection and coding of food and beverage marketing exposure (e.g., company and branding characteristics, duration of exposure, marketing techniques) on social media using existing protocols.
Manage, conduct, and document participant recruitment efforts (e.g., scheduling, obtaining assent) in accordance with UIC Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Assist in preparation of UIC IRB submissions.
Conduct other related research tasks including but not limited to undertaking data collection and coding, database programming for storing data, and literature reviews.
Communication:
Provide regular project updates around timeline, deliverables, and challenges to supervisor.
Assist in ongoing development and revision of data collection training materials.
Contribute to project training materials, progress reports, and other project publications.
Staff Management:
Assist with the recruitment and hiring of Graduate Research Assistants to conduct data collection and data coding activities.
Lead training of Graduate Research Assistants to ensure strict adherence to data collection and coding and other research protocols.
Plan, assign, and review work of the assigned Research Assistants to ensure that the project's objectives are met.
