The Department of Nuclear Engineering and Industrial Management (NEIM) at the University of Idaho invites highly qualified individuals to apply for a high-profile tenure-track/tenured faculty position at the associate or full professor rank in Nuclear Engineering or related field to expand on existing strengths in integrated nuclear energy systems and address national challenges with energy security, resilience, and agility.We seek bold, deeply collaborative colleagues with international recognition in computational modeling and simulation of cybersecure nuclear systems, including nuclear fuels and materials, as well as novel research in the field of nuclear materials and advanced manufacturing, and neutronics research with a focus on advanced reactor design. Colleagues with expertise in nuclear energy supply chains and spent fuels remediation are also encouraged to apply.The successful candidate will have an earned Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering or a closely related field and will have demonstrated a strong, sustained track record of extramurally funded research as part of a nationally and internationally recognized research program, in addition to recognized excellence in scholarship. Prior research funding success with the Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and/or National Science Foundation or other impactful programs and existing partnerships with national laboratories is highly desirable. The new faculty will be aligned with the university aspiration to become a Carnegie R-1 Very High Research Activity Institution of Higher Education. The new faculty will be expected to engage with existing faculty across the department and university as well as with collaborators from Idaho State University, INL and other external institutions. The successful candidate will play an active role within the NEIM Department by developing and teaching cutting edge curriculum with the department chair and resident faculty at the Idaho Falls Center and engaging in high-impact external and internal service activities.This position will be based on the Idaho Falls campus and will be jointly appointed with Idaho National Lab (INL), which will facilitate direct interaction with leading researchers in fields related to nuclear energy. In addition, this position will have access to the world class equipment/facilities at INL and the Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES).
