Cost Accountant

Overview:

Ulland Brothers, Inc., is a Civil/Highway-Heavy, aggregate and site development contractor with offices in Carlton, Virginia and Albert Lea, MN. Ulland Brothers has an immediate opening for a Cost Accountant at our Carlton Office.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

This primary duty of this role is to manage the company’s hired truck rentals, which includes Independent Truck Owner/Operators (ITO) and Multiple Truck Owners (MTO). The process includes:

• Serve as the company’s primary contact with ITOs and MTOs;
• Update, disseminate and collect executed ITO/MTO annual contracts and related required information;
• Collect weekly data on truck rental hours and reconcile differences between information received from internal and external sources, including timecards and vendor invoices;
• Record to company’s ERP system (Vista by Viewpoint);
• Complete required state reporting, including submission of Month-End Trucking Reports and reporting in MnDOT’s AASHTOWare CRL.
• Truck rental certified payroll review and submission
• Perform additional assignments as requested including ongoing in person or online training.

Additional duties may include invoice analysis to direct correct reporting of costs to construction contracts and equipment units.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, construction industry experience preferred.

• Strong Excel skills and comfort in learning new computer software;
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and multitask;
• Strong critical thinking skills;
• Able to communicate internally and externally with appropriate efficiency and professionalism.

Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching; requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines; requires normal range of hearing and vision.
