Avaya CM Engineer

 

What You Will Be Doing

Tyto Athene is seeking an experienced Avaya Aura Engineer/integrator to work at customer sites in the US and around the world.  This position requires as much as 70% travel.   Candidate must be capable of deploying and integrating the full Avaya Aura and Communication Manager product line.  Extensive knowledge in the entire Avaya Communication Manager suite to include older Definity systems, G3R, Voice Messaging (Aura Messaging, CM Messaging, IX Messaging and Modular Messaging) is required, and additional knowledge of Contact Center, Conferencing and Session/System Manager is preferred.   Familiarity with Main Communication Facilities, Data Switches and Routers, and related Power and HVAC requirements is preferred. Candidates must meet criteria to pass a background check and obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. Tyto Athene will assist applicants with submitting the necessary background check and security clearance request forms. 

• Attain and hold not less than a US government security clearance
• Assembly and installation of hardware for Avaya Aura media servers and gateways
• Installation of software and upgrades to firmware for Avaya gateways and servers – current to Aura 8.1
• Generation of licenses from the Avaya PLDS system, participating in on site new system installations and migrations.
• Enter new systems software and hardware into Avaya registration tool.
• Modifying and configuring new systems
• Installation of network switch gear associated directly with UC implementations
• Assisting and supporting team members with their duties
• Updating and notifying project managers and management as needed to include daily reports and system configuration documentation. Attend project daily status calls with project managers and customers
• Coordinating and performing system upgrades and updates with US Government customers.
• Producing task lists, impact statements, cut over spreadsheets and documenting requirements as required/directed by management.
• Procuring additional supplies locally as needed to perform and complete projects.
• Accomplishing system security Linux hardening in accordance with US Government documentation and directives.
• Interfacing Avaya systems and applications to non-Avaya application and systems
• Keeping updated on new software releases and systems
• Traveling nationally and internationally in performance of assigned duties
• Use company lab systems to keep updated on and to train yourself and other employees
• Assist with proposal designs
• Provide remote customer support

 

 

• Associates degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Systems or Business discipline. 5 years or greater direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education.
• Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in advance implementation, design, maintenance and support of Avaya CM, Definity, and G3R and subtending systems.
• 10 years of direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education.
• Strong computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and word processing are required.
• Working knowledge of IP Subnetting, QoS and IPV4/IPV6 model is required
• Working knowledge of routers and switches is preferred.
• Candidate must have the knowledge to pass the ACSS-Avaya Core, Communications and Collaboration Certifications
• Must be familiar with upgrading the Avaya Communication Platform from older legacy releases to the latest Avaya Aura Release.
• Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities simultaneously is required.
• Must be a US citizen and the ability to obtain a valid passport.
• Ability to work flexible/extended hours.
• Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds if required.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• The ability to pass a background check and obtain a Department of Defense secret clearance is required.
• The ability to obtain an Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification as listed in the current version of DoD 8570.01-M within two (2) months of hire date is required.  IAT Level II certifications include:
• GSEC
• Security
• CCNA Security
• SSCP
