The Product Manager, Education, will be responsible for managing MakerBot’s product solutions for the education market, such as the MakerBot SKETCH offering. The product manager will work closely with users, engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to devise product requirements and roadmaps, work with the GTM teams to successfully launch new products, measure their in-field performance against KPIs, and implement improvement strategies and tactics. This role is an opportunity to shape the direction of MakerBot’s product offering for the education market and to drive the overall adoption of 3D printing in schools.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify user needs and define the roadmap for MakerBot’s education product solutions.
  • Manage the product life cycle (PLCM) for MakerBot’s education product solutions by coordinating the product phases and gates with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Work with the internal engineering team as well as external partners to develop new education solutions. Forge partnerships with leading education companies.
  • Work with software engineering to develop our software solutions for the education market
  • Clearly define product requirements, project scopes, timelines, and milestones.
  • Work on product solution positioning with the marketing team
  • Measure and report on in-field product performance against KPIs and adjust strategies and tactics; update internal stakeholders.
  • Become the voice of the customer for the education market by conducting customer interviews, and surveys.
  • Partner with customer support, sales team, and other stakeholders to help troubleshoot and resolve customer pain points and drive continuous product improvements.
  • Drive a culture of transparency where all stakeholders are aware of progress and risks.
  • Be a catalyst for new opportunities – balancing continued product improvements with new innovations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 years of experience in product management or similar roles
  • Experience in managing products for the education market

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Deep understanding of the education market
  • Knack for gleaning customer insights from quantitative and qualitative data
  • Strong technical understanding, with the ability to establish credibility with engineers and occasionally be able to get hands-on
  • Solid knowledge of software and hardware integration, with the ability to effectively collaborate with software engineering teams to deliver seamless user experiences
  • Must be comfortable presenting to customers, partners, and internal audiences
  • Proven track record of shipping successful products – from conception to market
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter who takes ownership over his/her work
  • Strategic, data-driven mentality who leverage KPIs to define their success
  • Capable of holding teams accountable for shipping products on a regular basis
  • Experience with 3D printers and 3D design
