Job Description

Purchase raw materials, lab supplies, scientific equipment and services, office/business supplies based on planned usage and inventory requirements.

-Checks requisitions, obtains quotes, reviews and/or negotiates pricing.

-Evaluates vendor reliability; develops new supply sources as required.

-Coordinates purchasing activities with other departments to maintain inventory and supplies at planned levels.

-Expedite orders as necessary to ensure on-time delivery. Identify actual and potential delivery problems and take proactive steps to inform appropriate personnel. Coordinate the disposition of defective or unacceptable goods and make appropriate corrective measures.

--Track progress of orders/backorders and effectively communicate with internal customers on the status of incoming materials.

Work closely with planning, manufacturing, production, and research/development to ensure timely processing and receipt of raw materials needed for customer orders/finished goods.

-Actively always pursues cost savings opportunities and reports PPV to costing.

-Manages inventory of raw materials by utilizing the min/max reports weekly. Updating as necessary to ensure proper inventory levels.

-Processes blanket purchase orders to ensure inventory levels for floor stock etc.

-Works with planning to forecast demand using multiple metrics, including finished goods, forecasts, and usage history to determine appropriate inventory levels of raw materials.

-Assists planning by ordering raw materials needed to fulfill customer orders by creating purchase requisitions, request pricing, obtain approval signatures and placing purchase orders.

-Works closely with Project Managers and assists with acquiring materials for new customers
