DEPARTMENT: Estimating and Preconstruction
COMPENSATION: $26-28/hr or DOE
SUPERVISOR: Direct report to Estimating Lead

ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Preconstruction Estimator plays a crucial role within the estimating team, contributing to the preparation of cost proposals for significant architectural millwork and ornamental metal projects. This position is ideal for a highly organized and detail-oriented professional who can work autonomously, manages time effectively under tight deadlines, and upholds discretion when dealing with sensitive information. Strong communication, organizational, and technical skills are essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interpret and analyze architectural and construction drawings to ensure accuracy in proposal development.
- Experience in architectural casework, millwork, and ornamental metals is preferred.
- Evaluate labor and material costs for the fabrication and installation phases of complex architectural millwork and ornamental metalwork.
- Leverage advanced Excel skills for estimating and tracking purposes.
- Manage and coordinate Requests for Information (RFIs) with meticulous attention to detail.
- Develop and maintain schedules for fabrication, shipping, and installation processes.
- Assess potential budget and schedule adjustments and compile relevant reports.
- Oversee and monitor project progress, ensuring unresolved issues are tracked and addressed.
- Prepare detailed documentation to support the analysis of specific project concerns.
- Facilitate and document meetings as required by project leadership.
- Engage in special assignments as needed, adhering to high ethical standards and professionalism.
- Collaborate with production leads to gather accurate labor hour data and address details not captured in drawings.
- Occasional travel may be required to meet with clients or general contractors for bid clarifications and project scope discussions.
