Sr. AV Engineer

Job Description

Ultimate Staffing is hiring for a Senior AV Engineer for a leader in a consulting engineering firm. This is a hybrid, direct hire opportunity located in the San Jose area. The salary range for this position is $130K to $160K depending on experience.

Core Responsibilities

• Available during regular business hours to meet and respond to the needs of clients and to be available to staff, and as needed beyond regular business hours when necessary.
• Implement quality assurance procedures during design process (e.g., design criteria submission, design checklists, interdisciplinary coordination schedules, etc.).
• Design of presentation systems (displays, projection, LED) performing dimensioning, calculations, sightline, projection, and ergonomic studies and analysis.
• Design of sound systems providing coverage analysis, power, DSP and other ancillary equipment requirements.
• Infrastructure development including AV related mechanical, power, data and conduit pathway infrastructure design.
• Functional diagram development for Audio, Video and Control systems.
• Development of rack elevations and equipment mounting details coordinated with MEP and Low Voltage.
• Check all technical work for accuracy. Reviews technical content with team members from each discipline involved in the project where necessary.
• Lead programming efforts with clients to define functional and technical requirements. Designs and selects solutions to meet project specific requirements standards.
• Propose innovative solutions to design problems.
• Perform calculations, using engineering formulas and skills.
• Working knowledge of Bluebeam is required, knowledge of or with AutoCAD and or Revit a plus.
• Develop and or edit standard contract documents including drawings, specifications, bill of materials, RFP documents to match project requirements.
• Review product data submittals for conformance to contract documents
• Acts as a consultant to clients and as a technical advisor to junior professional staff assigned to the project.
• Develop and manage changes and clarifications to project scope, schedule, budget, bill of materials, bidding and CA related efforts. Capable to perform detailed punch walks and reports.
• Perform submittal reviews and insure accurate, timely response to all construction RFI's.
• Assist, co-author, or author reports, opinions, and recommendations for the approval of the Project Manager concerning the direction of the project.
• May serve as lead Project Manager, Engineer or Field Engineer during design and construction by performing site visits and preparing written reports of observations.
• As required, attends kick-off, design coordination, OAC, and construction meetings.
• Provide strong client relationship management and participate in business development efforts including scope and fee development, proposals, additional service requests, and client interviews.
• Engage with industry including product manufactures, manufacture reps, distributors, and contractors. Attend industry events as required for education and networking.

Ideal Candidate

• 10 years of experience with complex audiovisual solution.
• Working knowledge of mainstream audiovisual manufacturers, products and solutions
• Knowledge of various collaboration platforms such as Teams, Zoom, Cisco WebEx, Google Meet, etc.
• Familiar with audiovisual production workflows
• Familiar with media streaming platforms
• Familiar with control systems and audio DSP programming
• Familiar with CSI specifications and design-bid-build project documentation
• A passion for working in a team-based environment to deliver solutions for clients.
