Job Description
A meat wholesaler located on the North side of Houston. Their customers consist of grocery stores, restaurants, food trucks, meat markets, etc.
Temp-to-hire, 720 hrs
In Office, Monday - Saturday
9:30am to 6:30pm
Casual work environment (jeans, polo, closed toe shoes)
Pay: $26 - 29/hr (55K-60K)
Reason for opening: Old manager moving away
Reports to: Superintendent
General description: Transportation manager responsible for managing a team of 19-26 drivers. Looking for someone to take complete ownership over the department. Responsible for handling every facet of team; issue resolution (will be asked about this during interview), leasing trucks, coordinating the picking up of trucks, scheduling drivers, mapping routes, communicating with vendors & clients, etc. Fast paced position. Fleet doesn't typically make multiple stops like typical distribution companies. Usually one local stop then back to HQ
Job Description:
- Daily routing of trucks on Appian routing software
- Scheduling of drivers for routes
- Managing driver's hours thru scheduling
- Coordinating drivers backhauls with buyers
- Coordinating break down repairs with verified vendors
- Scheduling PM's with vendors
- Turning payroll sheets for drivers
Requirements
- 10-15 years of experience managing fleet in food industry
- refrigerated box trucks
- working with literal TONS of food
- experienced managing anywhere from 20 drivers
- APPIAN routing software a huge plus
- BG/DS check required
- Must be flexible with a wide range of personalities
- From food truck owners, to butchers, to steak house managers, etc.
