Job Summary

The Web Administrator supports the university's top tier websites. Under the direction of the Director of Web Content, the Web Administrator is responsible for supporting web-related tasks including but not limited to, website content updates, website migrations through development and staging hosting architecture, and testing websites following security updates and maintenance functions. As a member of the MarCom web team, the Web Administrator will be part of a dynamic environment that utilizes multiple software such as Drupal and Siteimprove to support university websites. The Web Administrator will be the forward-facing MarCom representative assigned to assist campus partners with web support. They will also answer questions from partners related to their websites. Assists with UMass Homepage Suite updates and other web development tasks as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Monitors MarCom Web Support Teams channel and responds to campus partners' requests for assistance related to existing websites.
  • Utilizes site integrity software to audit websites to identify and remediate broken links and ensure compliance with ADA WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.1, Level AA web guidelines.
  • Reviews websites to ensure compliance with university brand guidelines.
  • Proactively reaches out to partners to update websites and fix issues.
  • Assists with entering content in Drupal CMS (Content Management System.)
  • Provides additional website training to campus partners as needed.
  • Finds, diagnoses, and fixes content problems, including broken links, typographical errors, and formatting inconsistencies.
  • Performs website administration, such as setting user roles and permissions, and managing access and workflows.
  • Collaborates with staff in Information Technology to support Drupal migrations and resolve technical issues.
  • Reinforces web support plans, including client communications and internal coordination with MarCom web team.
  • Contributes to knowledge base documentation of website governance policies.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor's degree with 3 (three) years' experience implementing and maintaining websites.
  • Demonstrated experience with front-end design of Drupal websites.
  • Excellent web support skills, willingness to learn other skills related to web design and web maintenance.
  • Experience with generating website analytics reports.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, able to present information in a clear and concise manner in a group setting.
  • Strong organizational skills, including multitasking and the ability to complete assignments independently.
  • Experienced user of MS Office toolset (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team setting with a diverse group of people.

Work Schedule

  • Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm
  • This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement where an employee's work is regularly performed at a location other than the campus workspace for a portion of the week. As this position falls within the Professional Staff Union, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the Professional Staff Union collective
    bargaining agreement.
