This includes oversight of the pathology slide filing rooms, as well as operation of the digital slide scanning program in pathology. This position will also serve as a technical consultant for the office staff.

Position Summary:

This includes oversight of the pathology slide filing rooms, as well as operation of the digital slide scanning program in pathology. Major Responsibilities:
- Coordinates all slide filing within the department of pathology including:
- Assures slide filing is up to date
- Standardization of work and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOP’s) related to slide management
- Writing and maintenance of SOP’s as they relate to digital slide scanning
- Coordinates digital slide scanning for tumor boards, teaching conferences, and consults.
- Provides training and technical assistance on proper use of digital slide scanners and software to employees within the assigned work area.
- Serves as a technical resource for office staff, offering support and training on basic pathology processes and workflows.
- Assists supervisor with quality issues, lean workflows, projects, and troubleshooting.
- Assures that assigned employees are provided with appropriate resources, materials, and methods.
- Provides recommendations to manager or supervisor for the most efficient utilization of assigned personnel. Relays work instruction from the supervisor.
- Work with pathology operations team and faculty to determine best practices and efficient workflows.
- Supports the pathology office in daily duties including, but not limited to:
- Answering and triaging of phone calls
- Distribution of courier drops, mail, and cases to faculty as needed.
- Processing consults and send outs related to patient care
- Epic documentation needed for faculty support
- Processing of legal requests.
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an anatomic pathology department or reference laboratory.
- Detail oriented
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to multitask
- Previous experience with slide management and digital slide scanning
- Microsoft Office experience
