JOB SUMMARY :
This position is supervised by the Supervisor Security Dispatch and is responsible for the fast and accurate operation of a telephone and a two-way radio during routine and heavy traffic, keeping a neat and accurate dispatch log, dispatching shuttle calls, dispatching security calls, and monitoring security cameras and alarms.
REPORTS TO :
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Answers calls for Security and dispatches guards as needed.
- Answers calls for a shuttle and dispatches shuttles as needed.
- Completes a log of Security calls including times (received, dispatched, arrival, completed).
- Gives routine non-technical information upon request and transfers all other questions to proper
persons or departments.
- Monitors Security cameras
- Monitors Security alarms and dispatches a guard as needed.
- Routes emergency or problem calls to proper authorities.
- Searches archived security video and prepares a recording of the archived video as needed.
- Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Two years of work, experience preferably as a public safety dispatcher or security dispatcher.
- A minimum of one year of experience in working with telecom and related technologies is
preferred.
- Basic computer hardware and software knowledge is also required.
- Proficiency in written and mathematical process as may be reflected in the completion of high
school.
REQUIRED LICENSURES / CERTIFICATIONS / REGISTRATIONS :
SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Must have excellent customer service skills in person, over a telephone, and over a two-way radio.
INTERACTION WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS AND OTHER RELATIONSHIPS :
- Interacts with all departments within the UMC Health System.
- Interacts with patients, family, and other visitors to the UMC facilities.
- May also interact with Texas Tech providers and support staff.
- Interacts with law enforcement agencies and correctional facilities.
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES :
Occasionally lifts up to 20 pounds of weight and exerts up to 20 pounds of force to push, pull or move objects. Work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

ENVIRONMENTAL / WORKING CONDITIONS :
This position is subject to inside environmental conditions; protection from weather conditions, not necessarily from temperature changes.
