About the Role:
Performs Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) testing to independently evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of key controls over financial reporting. Conducts internal audits and participates in special projects relating to a wide range of bank finance and accounting functions, operations, regulatory compliance, risk management, and technology to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls that are designed to ensure achievement of management's operating objectives, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and reliability of financial statements and other reporting.
  • Performs assigned SOX testing procedures, including attending control walkthroughs, evaluating of the design of key controls, and testing the operating effectiveness of key controls.
  • Compiles and maintains audit work papers in conformity with departmental quality standards and guidelines promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
  • Executes assigned tasks in conformity with deadlines and budget expectations.
  • Keeps the Lead Auditor and Audit Manager informed of progress, impediments, and the results of fieldwork.
  • Participates in discussions with audit clients/management regarding results of testing in order to validate facts and circumstances, establishing the basis for audit testing conclusions and/or reportable findings.
  • Identifies and/or helps to assess potential for control enhancements or opportunities for management to improve the efficiency or effectiveness of operations.
  • Provides assistance in responding to information requests or requests for assistance from external auditors, regulatory examiners, and other bank departments.
  • Proactively seeks information and learns about the business.
  • Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
  • Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
  • May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.
  • Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words.
  • Takes personal initiative and is a positive example for others to emulate.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
About You:
  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related business field or equivalent experience preferred
  • 0-2 years of experience or strong academic record in a relevant business or technical discipline required
  • General familiarity with banking and financial services.
  • General knowledge of accounting and finance, risk assessment, internal control, and auditing concepts/methods; basic knowledge and skills in relevant technical discipline (e.g., information technology, quantitative/modeling, data analytics, other).
  • Willingness to learn, work as part of a team, and comfortable sharing ideas with others.
Work Style:
Umpqua Bank offers a Flexible Workplace Program and this opportunity comes with the Flex Office work style which is working in office from a designated company location three days weekly with flexibility to work remotely up to two days weekly.

We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $57,520.00 - $80,340.00, and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
