Join Umpqua Health as a THW Liaison and play a pivotal role in shaping our community health initiatives. As a key member of our team, you will actively engage with the Traditional Health Worker (THW) Commission and Subcommittees, driving the development and implementation of critical processes and policies.
This position involves convening the THW Workforce Advisory Committee at the highest levels, fostering seamless communication and collaboration with THW professionals across our service area.

Your Impact
- Serve as the primary point of contact for community-based organizations, stakeholders, and internal departments regarding THW program updates and initiatives.
- Serve on a THW Workforce Advisory Committee to facilitate communication, collaboration, and bi-directional learning with THWs.
- Facilitate education sessions on THW core roles, skills, and the importance of integrating the THW paradigm into organizational culture.
- Guide the development of Umpqua Health deliverables related to THW, including integration and utilization plans, reports, and payment models.
- Collaborate with internal THWs and relevant departments to expand access to and education regarding THW services within the community.
- Collaborate across departments to advocate for THW integration and promote a culture of health equity within Umpqua Health.
- Coordinate THW-health system learning collaboratives on topics such as social determinants of health, health equity, and anti-oppression.
- Provide internal communication and updates about THWs and THW integration within Umpqua Health to ensure transparency and alignment.
- Participate in community outreach initiatives to promote health literacy, raise awareness about available services, and encourage preventive healthcare practices among members.
- Perform other duties and support deliverables as assigned by the organization to help drive our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization's Values.
Your Credentials :
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid THW certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire required.
- Minimum two years of work experience working as a THW or related role, and intimate knowledge of THW workforce and challenges THW workforces face.
Demonstrated commitment to addressing THW workforce development issues at a systems level.
Demonstrated understanding of THW roles across a variety of settings, such as health systems, social services, substance use disorder treatment, mental health, community-based organizations.
Strong understanding of health systems.
Skilled in developing and implementing community partnerships, implementing new workflows and strategies and skilled in developing cross-sectoral partnerships.
Skilled in facilitating meetings and discussions with participants from diverse backgrounds.
- The ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages would be highly advantageous.
- Valid driver's license is required, dependable transportation and insurance.
Your Credentials
- Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, healthcare administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of experience working with Traditional Health Workers or in community health programs.
- Proven track record in policy development, program implementation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with data management systems.
