Job Description
The College of Arts & Science’s Director of Business Administration is responsible for the management of the business and fiscal operations of the College. The position reports to the Director III, Business Administration in the Division of Finance & Administration but works in collaboration with the Dean of Arts & Sciences, the College leadership team and internal and external partners to accomplish college and campus objectives.
This is a wonderful opportunity to work in an enriching and diverse academic setting where duties vary day-to-day. Requires a proactive, detail-oriented person with excellent communication skills and who enjoys working with executive-level administrators, Deans, Department Chairs, faculty, and staff to accomplish projects under pressure and within deadlines.
Duties include:
Apply a comprehensive knowledge of the business and financial areas of the College and the University, direct and conduct actions related to accounting, budgeting, financial planning, payroll and contracts within the College of Arts & Sciences, the largest academic unit on campus.
Assist the Dean in the administration of long-term strategic plans developed by the College, including budget and operations.
Provide supervision, training, support and guidance to College employees with fiscal responsibility. Oversee business and office staff recruitment efforts in the College.
Develop an annual operational and gift budgets that include costs and revenues related to the College as developed by the Dean, academic leadership teams and central administration.
Project and monitor budget performance for all financially related operations of the College.
Participate in the development of standard processes and tools for all financial functions with all other business and functional managers within the Finance organization.
Maintain an environment of compliance to fiscal policies and procedures, ensure transactions are properly documented and authorized, and ensure adequacy of internal controls to safeguard assets and minimize risk.
Partner with MU Shared Services, HR, IT and other campus functional areas to conduct business operations of the College and to assist with implementing initiatives.
Understand and assist in the development and execution of academic hiring strategy and initiating hiring orders. Manage payroll and position changes within the College.
Collect, track and provide business information and non-academic metrics to guide the organization to on-target performance.
Configure and maintain financial authorizations and approval structure for college and departments.
Other duties as assigned.

Hiring Range: $65,776 - $97,103 Hourly

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work with a diverse array of personalities, under pressure and within deadlines, especially with high-level administrators, executives, faculty, and staff.
Goal oriented and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Aptitude for consensus building and the ability to maintain positive constituent and colleague relationships through constructive communication skills and professionalism.
Strong collaborative, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
Good listener with excellent oral and written communications skills.
Experience in supervising and managing multiple employees.
Master’s Degree in related field.
