Position Description
The Addiction Science Team at UMSL-Missouri Institute of Mental Health (UMSL-MIMH) conducts grant implementation and evaluation services for several federally- and state-funded research and service grants focused on substance use prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction efforts across Missouri. Our overarching goals include preventing overdose deaths, promoting the dignity and worth of people who use drugs, and reducing barriers to evidence-based treatment and recovery services. We accomplish this through training, advocacy, building and supporting community-based programs and partnerships, evaluation, quantitative and community-based research, and outreach. Given the diversity of the communities we serve, it is essential we approach our work with a focus on equity and an attitude of cultural humility.
We are currently looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable, inquiring, and compassionate individual to help us conduct research, reporting, and evaluation of naloxone and fentanyl test strip distribution efforts in the State of Missouri.
Duties and Responsibilities
Funding expectations: This position is currently funded through a combination of grant funding through the State of Missouri. Current grant funding is annual with expectations for renewals.
Shift
M-F; 8am-5pm
Salary
Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Pay Range: $16.92 - $23.80 Hourly
Grade: GGS-08
University Title: Research Specialist II
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices, and methods.
Recognizes ways that race and other identities intersect in the work, especially with communities we serve and is comfortable talking about identities such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, ability, or gender in plain, specific terms
Computer literacy and mathematical, analytical, and research skills. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.), particularly Excel.
Possess excellent organizational skills, communication skills, and leadership abilities.
Webpage, WordPress, or HTML experience are highly desired.
Experience with R, Python, SQL, or other programming languages preferred.

We are currently looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable, inquiring, and compassionate individual to help us conduct research, reporting, and evaluation of naloxone and fentanyl test strip distribution efforts in the State of Missouri.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the lead evaluator in collecting and managing naloxone distribution data (by geographic region, organization type, grant mechanism, time, etc.)
- Work with lead evaluator to analyze and report data from Overdose Field Reports (Missouri’s centralized system for tracking self-reported, non-fatal overdose events)
- Coordination with university partners, government agencies, and community stakeholders in the collection and storage of data.
- Develop monthly reports and reporting tools (infographics, one pagers, etc.) for funders and community partners
- Disseminate research findings to community audiences, including through use of department social media accounts, infographics, and one pagers
- Assist with data management, storage, preparation, and analyses to assist evaluation and research of naloxone and fentanyl test strip distribution and overdose field reports
- Contribute to, help write, and assist with the submission of manuscripts, conference presentations, and grant applications
