Student Involvement, a department of Student Engagement within the Division of Student Affairs at UNC Charlotte, connects students to engagement opportunities throughout campus. and advises students on creating impactful experiences that cultivate community.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Assistant Director for Student Involvement is responsible for providing advising, training, and support for student organizations, with a focus on training, workshops, and management of resources.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
- Coordinate development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of programs such as Fall and Spring Student Org Showcases, Excellence Awards, Student Org Leadership Development Institutes, Student Org Toolbox series, and Late Night Breakfasts.
- Coordinate student organization resources, including supplies and equipment, and assess student organization resource needs.
- Provide Risk Assessment training and education.
- Facilitate student organization storage locker reservations.
- Edit and publish the Student Orgs Newsletter.
- Marketing and promotion of student organization events and resources.
- Assist student organizations with event planning as requested.
- Consult with student organizations who need organizational management or leadership development advice.
- Advise UNC Charlotte Chapter of ODK.
- Serve on University Committees and represent the Department at University functions.
- Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director for Student Involvement.
Minimum Education/Experience
- Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration or related area,
- Excellent training and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse set of programs and responsibilities, and build collaborative relationships with staff and students.
- Ability to multitask and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness and flexibility to work with students and staff in unstructured situations including night and weekend activities.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience working with student organizations, program planning and implementation, training and student development program delivery.
