Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Nightshift Charge Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic Emergency Department team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency nursing, leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment. As the Nightshift Charge RN, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating patient care during the night shift, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and efficient healthcare services.

Leadership and Supervision:

    • Provide leadership and supervision to the nursing staff during the night shift.
    • Coordinate and assign patient care responsibilities based on acuity and staffing levels.
    • Act as a resource and mentor to staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  1. Patient Care:

    • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the emergency department.
    • Prioritize and manage multiple patients with diverse needs and conditions.
    • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and timely care.
  2. Emergency Response:

    • Demonstrate expertise in emergency nursing practices.
    • Respond effectively to critical situations, providing immediate and appropriate interventions.
    • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals in emergency situations.
  3. Documentation and Communication:

    • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
    • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and their families.
    • Report and document incidents or concerns as per hospital policies.
  4. Quality Improvement:

    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to enhancing patient care outcomes.
    • Identify areas for improvement in processes and procedures, and work towards their resolution.

Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. Hiring compensation ranges from $30.50 - $39.65 / hour. This rate is not reflective of shift differentials which is added on top of the base rate of pay. This position is eligible for benefits after a 60-day waiting period. 


Minimum Education

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Experience
  • 2 years of experience in Med/Surg preferred
  • Prior experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public, patients, family, staff, and physician and acts within the chain of command, utilizing positive verbal and non-verbal skills.
  • Competent in delivering safe and effective patient care within legal limits of license and certifications and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the continuum of nursing care provided in the patient care department.
  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service to patients, family, staff, and physicians.
 
Physical Demands
  • Lifts, positions, pushes, pulls and/or transfers up to and greater than 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity and mobility
  • Prolonged, extensive or considerable sitting/standing/walking
  • Bending, squatting, twisting, turning
  • Near acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less
