What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Technician position at unc?
This position is responsible for day-to-day accounting/financial operations for the department. This position provides daily service to faculty members and students in the department of Economics as well as the program in Entrepreneurship. This includes, but is not limited to, financial reporting for the Chair and Department Manager, invoice processing, journal entries, purchase requisitions, travel reimbursements and monthly account reconciliations. The position also handles our purchasing card reconciliation, makes hotel and parking reservations for guests as needed, and assists faculty members with Concur travel requests and expense reports. This position will also be responsible for issuing student awards and assisting Graduate Student Services Manager with finance items related to graduate students. The person in this position works closely with the central offices of Disbursement Services, Travel, Budget, Accounting and the Business Center in the College of Arts and Sciences. This person is also responsible for post award management. This position serves as financial oversight and training for the Shuford Program Coordinator. This person will back up the Business Officer, which includes budgeting, projections, and reporting. The position is part of the departmental team and is expected to help with a variety of collective projects such as special events, faculty searches and development, as needed.
