Position Summary | The Aleman lab in the Department of Pharmacology is seeking postdoctoral research associates to lead projects investigating RNA processing in the development and function of blood and vascular cells. We use biochemical and molecular approaches, combined with cell-based assays and animal models to understand posttranscriptional regulatory pathways. Current projects involve the intersection of iron homeostasis and RNA processing and regulation of RNA stability during erythropoiesis. Successful candidates in this position will employ biochemical and biophysical approaches to study metal-protein and RNA-protein interactions, as well as animal- or cell-based experiments and high throughput sequencing. Candidates will also be expected to mentor and train undergraduate and junior graduate students, pursue funding opportunities, publish their research, and progress towards an independent research career. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related fields. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Qualified candidates will have successfully published their prior research in peer-reviewed journals. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Experience with biochemistry methods. |
