Job Description
This role is responsible for stewarding and managing student, teacher and organizational data in service of state and local reporting and compliance for all of Uncommon’s schools in Camden, NJ. This role will work closely with school and regional leaders in Camden, NJ, members of regional operations teams in Newark, NJ,, as well members of Uncommon’s home office teams.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Steward the management of local, state and other compliance and data reporting across all of Camden, NJ, including:
- Develop and keep deep understanding of local and state reporting requirements for all Uncommon schools in Camden, NJ;
- Develop systems for data collection, preparation, and validation for all of Camden, NJ that are focused on taking work off school operations teams whenever possible;
- Develop systems for working with regional ops team members in Newark, NJ in managing their schools’ Camden, NJ reporting;
- Management of local, state and other external compliance and data reporting for Camden, NJ schools, including:
- Connect with local, Camden, NJ, federal, and other systems to report student data, including but not limited to: NJSmart, Powerschool, SchoolMint, Genesis, Homeroom, PAN, and the Federal Civil Rights Data system.
- Managing data collection and reporting for Renaissance Renewal and reporting
- Working closely with regional and school operations teams to manage timelines for data submission to ensure collection, preparation, accuracy, and validation
- Work closely with Uncommon’s central data management team and the Manager of Data Reporting and Analysis in Newark, NJ to streamline the collection and management of student and staff data, including:
- Coordinate with Data/IT team around the management of Start of Year and End of Year processes in our internal PowerSchool student data system, including schedule creation and closing out the school year;
- Management of regional tools used to track student and staff data, including coordination with vendors as needed;
- Ensuring school data accuracy by conducting data audits and coordinating with schools, regions, and home office teams to improve systems supporting data accuracy; and
- Defining and documenting data collection processes.
- Teacher certification data: Maintain teacher certification records as needed in service of compliance as well as meeting certification goals
Qualifications
- 5-6 years of professional experience; 2-3 years analyzing data in a school
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- At least five years of work experience
- Strong computer and data analysis skills, especially with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Strong customer service approach and communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability and ability to work independently
- Passion for the mission of closing the achievement gap
- A desire to work on a high-performing team and take on additional projects, be creative, and propose new solutions
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and take initiative as well as to work collaboratively
- Quick and effective learner in a fast-paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment that proactively seeks feedback to improve
- Demonstrated ability to successfully balance multiple projects concurrently
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and escalate concerns when needed
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Familiarity with PowerSchool or other student data management systems preferred;
- Familiarity with NJ State Data Platforms preferred;
- Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities preferred

Compensation for this position: The starting compensation for this role based in Camden, NJ is between $76,500 to $90,000 and generally, we expect that qualified candidates in this location will be made an offer between $76,500 and $81,000. The starting pay will depend on a variety of factors that may include but are not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. Because we value staff staying in their roles over time, we do not currently cap salary ranges.

Salary : $76,500 - $90,000
