Summary:
Performs all daily aspects of the Credit Union’s Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) programs in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and industry standards. This includes training and communicating, as well as responding to all Credit Union compliance-related issues.
Responsibilities:
- In accordance with Credit Union policy, assists with the BSA/AML program; and ensures compliance with all laws, regulations and regulatory guidance, under the direction of management.
- Performs transaction monitoring, and investigates potential suspicious activity.
- Files Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and submits Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) within the stated reporting requirements. Works Verafin alerts to include Watchlist and other alerts. Initiates any applicable communication efforts with branches, departments, other financial institutions, and law enforcement agencies, as required.
- Participates in the SAR Committee meetings with Compliance and Loss Prevention employees. Initiates topics and inspires conversations to actively engage all participants, and to encourage collaboration with, and learning from, each other.
- Under direction of manager, on a continuous on-going basis develops and builds out the BSA/AML program at UNIFY, which encompasses all areas that touch BSA/OFAC/AML CIP/KYC/314(a)/ 314(b). Assists with developing an annual schedule of all activities, and initiates annual meetings/review of key items, e.g. BSA risk assessment, annual review of CTR exemptions, etc.
- Participates in communication to Compliance and Risk Management and staff about BSA/AML compliance issues; and responds to BSA/AML questions from branch and department personnel.
- Assists in developing, implementing, updating, and maintaining BSA operational procedures. Offers suggestions to manager on changes to any policies that cover BSA/OFAC/CIP/AML.
- Generates and performs reviews of FinCEN 314(a) and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) reports within regulatory guidelines and guidance, and including reporting to federal regulatory agencies as appropriate.
- Assists with internal BSA audit findings that need correction, and with preparing for NCUA regulatory exams as needed.
- Leads and positively influences others, and exhibits UNIFY’s core values in all daily activities.
- Graciously challenges others, by asking questions and constructively managing conflict and communication with all interactions, to improve understanding and approaches, for the overall good of the credit union.
- Ensures full compliance with UNIFY Financial Credit Union service standards, policies, and procedures; and with the Bank Secrecy Act and other relevant laws and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School diploma or equivalent, with some college preferred; prior experience with BSA/AML/OFAC/CIP/KYC and Verafin experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Incumbent is required to attain on-going BSA training and knowledge by periodically attending BSA/AML related webinars, seminars, conferences, etc.
- Requires familiarity with Federal and State Laws and regulations applicable to credit unions/financial institutions.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; and proficiency in word processing software application.
