HSE Manager

Minimum Qualification (Education, Experience and/or Training, Required Certifications):

· Provide oversite of all HSE staff, programs and all related safety and environmental aspects of the plant.

· Provide focus and effort towards an injury-free workplace for all employees and contractors that interact with our site.

· Performs training for various programs (ie. New Employee Orientation, EOC, SWP, CCR, JSA, VPP, Safety Observations, etc.)

· Serves as a technical resource for other HSE functions including project and process change reviews, corporate conference calls, and other activities integral to the HSE Department.

· Stay current with industry and manufacturing trends regarding HSE.

· Oversee the HSE financial aspects including projects, equipment needs, third party support and other expense related items.

· Serves as Emergency Response Team (ERT) Chief, responsible for team goals and results of the emergency operations center (EOC).

· Manage Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) related responsibilities to maintain site compliance.

· Coordinate activities associated with site Industrial Hygiene program (IH).

· Must have environmental engineering knowledge/experience.

· Must have previously managed direct reports.

Education:

· Bachelor’s Degree, with preference for Environmental and Safety, Engineering degree or related experience is preferred.

Experience:

· Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, utilities, industrial or pharma environment preferred.

· Must have experience in accessing, developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs and initiatives to promote and achieve a safe environment.

· GMP Manufacturing.

· FDA Approved facility.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills tailored to the appropriate audience.

· Effective oral and written communication skills.

· Ability to work well at all levels within the organization, comfortable in a manufacturing environment.

· Strong interpersonal skills, planning, organization and prioritizing are essential.

· Team building skills, along with the ability to facilitate action plans.

· Must have knowledge of computer systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office applications.

· Ability to effectively lead change through influence.

· Ability to think critically and strategically while searching for solutions.

Additional Preferences:

· Experience in technical health/safety areas – fall prevention, LOTO, confined space entry, etc.

· HSE Management System knowledge.

· Ability to leverage knowledge across the company to deliver results.

· Special Government Employee (SGE) for OSHA VPP program administration.

· Have thorough knowledge and understanding of OSHA/VPP/US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and EPA regulations.

· This position must provide hands-on support to all plant personnel in a 24/7 work environment and be on call to provide “over the phone” or “on site” support and direction.

· Must be able to travel to all areas of the plant which may include walking, climbing various levels of stairs or ladders, at various floor levels in various buildings as well as the exterior of the building.
