Summary/Objective

The Audit and Compliance Specialist/CRA Officer is responsible for serving as the bank's CRA Officer and performing the necessary functions to support and maintain the regulatory, legal, and policy and procedure compliance for Unison Bank and its sister banks.

CRA Officer

  1. Maintain relevant CRA reports, policies, and files, including CRA public files.
  2. Coordinate, document, and review lending, investment, and service activity.
  3. Serve as bank’s liaison with examiners.
  4. Implement adequate CRA training for internal departments.
  5. Identify opportunities for CRA investments, donations, and community development loans.
  6. Maintain a working knowledge of the CRA regulation and changes.

 

Audit and Compliance Specialist

  1. Examines bank records, conducts interviews and performs other tests to ensure compliance with bank policies, bank procedures, applicable laws, and regulations.
  2. Conducts internal audits in a timely manner utilizing a risk-based approach that includes sufficient documentation to support audit procedures performed.
  3. Communicates audit findings:  prepares audit work papers, narratives, and reports in accordance with established department, industry and professional standards.  Communicates policy exceptions, compliance violations, and control weaknesses to department and bank management during audits.  Provides final reports to management and completes follow-up to ensure recommendations are addressed.
  4. Assists and monitors practices and changes within the banking industry and internal audit profession.  Responds and adapts to new regulations.
  5. Assists with the training of the banks’ staff to ensure awareness and understanding of regulations and any regulatory issues. 
  6. Assists with compliance briefings and providing updates regarding changes in compliance regulations.
  1. Serves as backup to BSA duties typically handled by BSA Officer.
  2. Consistently demonstrates appropriate interpersonal communication skills with customers, coworkers, and outside vendors.
  3. Ability to work independently, multi-task, and work cooperatively with others.
  4. Follows all Unison Bank policies and procedures.
  5. Regular and reliable attendance.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

 

Physical Demands

This is a largely sedentary role.  The employee is regularly required to sit and occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift up to 20 pounds.  The employee is regularly required to use fingers to type.  The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.   

 

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

 

Required Education and Experience

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field; or 3 to 5 years of banking, finance, or audit experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

General banking knowledge that includes compliance with bank laws, regulations, and internal controls; and knowledge of banking products and services. 

Comprehensive understanding of CRA requirements for an intermediate small bank.

Community Bank Internal Auditor Certification or Community Bank Compliance Officer Certification will be provided as necessary.
