Global Communications Co-op

Unispace
New York City, NY Full Time
POSTED ON 2/2/2023 CLOSED ON 2/13/2023

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Global Communications Co-op position at Unispace?

Who you are

You’re studying Marketing and/or Communications, ready to take on a paid co-op role and wanting to do it somewhere that you can learn about and work across multiple regions – Europe, Asia, Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) and the Americas.

You’re a rare and special breed: a conceptual thinker, natural communicator, and can navigate your way around basic graphics in Adobe Photoshop or Canva (or willing to learn). You’re not afraid to roll your sleeves up and try something new – whether that’s choosing branded merchandise, crafting and responding to Instagram posts, researching to support content planning and creation, or jumping into the CMS to keep our website content up to date.

We need someone who has exceptional written communications skills, an eye for detail and knows how to keep a few plates spinning (a.k.a. time management).

This co-op is 40 hours per week with flexibility. The position will begin in July 2023 and has a duration of six months. To align with this schedule, we recommend that applicants attend a college or university that offers co-op programs, have flexibility with course load to be able to work up to or close to 40 hours per week or be a recent graduate.

Why you’re here

This role centrally supports the global and regional MarComms teams, specifically through three functions within Marketing and Communications:

  • Brand and Communications team to be a catalyst for growth by driving brand awareness and brand experience online (content on our website and social channels).
  • Content team to create timely and evergreen content pieces and sales-enablement collateral.
  • Digital marketing team to help optimize the website and support on campaigns.

This role is one where you can stretch and grow during your six-month placement, gaining real-world knowledge of brand marketing channels, content generation, social media, digital marketing and how to communicate with impact.

Your skills in a nutshell...

Interpersonal skills

  • Good stakeholder management – you know how to support a team to achieve goals and keep everyone aware of progress and learnings.
  • Time management – you know how to juggle multiple projects at once and will take the initiative to keep things moving on schedule.

Communications and content generation

  • Journalism, communications, or marketing major.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Avid consumer of social media – you know what lands on Instagram vs Twitter or LinkedIn (or have a desire to learn).
  • An eye for design. Basic knowledge of Adobe Suite such as InDesign, or Illustrator is helpful but not essential – we also have templates in Canva that you can tweak easily.

Cultural competencies & behavior

  • Open and humble about mistakes and growth areas – you’re a life-long learner.
  • Comfortable with change and adaptable enough to respond to the changing needs, projects and goals of our team.
  • In your element working at pace – coordinating research, copywriting, social media and reporting at any one time.

Let’s be clear, you’ll be responsible for...

You’ll support the MarComms teams on everything from website and social media content through to proposing branded merchandise, crafting internal comms, researching, and developing content and collateral that promotes our brand.

Stakeholder engagement

  • Working with regional MarComms peers to ensure we’re sharing information about upcoming events, partnerships and brand campaigns.
  • Updating project leads so we’re on the same page with communications objectives, progress and learnings.
  • Working with Global Head of Content to align on content strategy, sales enablement material requirements, planning and execution timelines

Brand, communications, and digital strategy

  • Supporting the execution and launch of new initiatives and campaigns across external and internal channels, keeping us on schedule with comms plans, coordinating and writing news stories for our intranet and website, crafting internal emails and social media for global campaigns.
  • Assist the implementation of our SEO social channel strategy across Pinterest and YouTube, along with content and assets for organic social channels (LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram) broadly.
  • Assist in the creation of branded assets, whether that’s merchandise for events, photography or graphics for social media.
  • Supporting our continued website optimization and LinkedIn organic posts for campaigns and announcements.

Content

  • Research topics, trends, audience, and competitors to support the execution of thought leadership/white papers.
  • Help us raise the profile of our Global CEO on LinkedIn by ghost writing LinkedIn posts for him on Unispace content and trending topics in the media
  • Copywriting, editing, and proofreading content to align with Unispace’s Tone of Voice.
  • Collaborate with peers to identify ways to expand the life of content in the form of white papers, infographics, and more.

Monitoring and reporting

  • A real data-lover at heart, knowing that no campaign works without measurement, and you’re the one to keep track of it all and share insights and reporting to help us get better every time.
  • Working in our social media platforms, you’ll keep an eye on what people are saying about us online and look after community management (liking and replying to comments).
