These applicants would patiently and respectfully develop a rapport with program participants while promoting independence and skill improvement. Experience supporting individuals with disabilities is very helpful but not required. You must be a “people-person” and be compassionate about the care and well-being of others. High school diploma/GED, clean driving record, strong communication skills, the ability to do the physical part of the job, and computer literacy required. Requirements:

Job Purpose:

Day position Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 or 4:00 depending on duties.

Looking for full time Learning Consultants.

Under the general supervision of the Adult Services Director, and in cooperation with other team members, this position is responsible for planning and implementing program plans and activities for adults with developmental disabilities either individually or in groups at the center and in the community. This includes community integration through volunteer activities, socialization, and recreation through a variety of activities based on each individual's interest and ability to participate.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to support people in a person centered manner.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to lift and position adult clients.
  • Good driving record.
  • Ability to provide accurate documentation.

Essential Administrative Job Functions:

The person in this position is responsible for:

  • Keeping Director of Adult Services informed of program status, recommend program equipment and supplies to be purchased.
  • Attending staff meetings, in-service training, and workshops as directed.
  • Completing routine employee paperwork in a timely manner, i.e. monthly timesheet, request for leave, etc.
  • Completing documentation and reports as requested by Adult Services Director within agreed upon timelines and formats.

Essential Job Functions:

The person in this position is responsible for:

  • Maintaining a caseload of one to six adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Participating as an integral member of the planning team for each individual on caseload.
  • Developing and implementing individual program plans and activities as specified in the personal plan which is based on the individual's interests and needs.
  • Teaching and modeling appropriate social skills and interaction at all times.
  • Assuring behavior management procedures are followed as specified in approved behavior plans.
  • Providing opportunities for learning in the community as appropriate.
  • Assuring goals are being carried out in a positive, person centered manner.
  • Providing for the personal care needs of each individual served (i.e. feeding, toileting, bathing).
  • Keeping accurate, daily records including time sheets for self and clients, observational notes, etc.
  • Preparing monthly summaries for each individual on caseload.
  • Developing and maintaining client files for individuals on caseload.
  • Completing an Event Report for any accident or incident of suspected abuse or neglect.
  • Completing additional duties as assigned.
  • Adhering to agency policy and procedure and it's code of ethical conduct.
