***This is a new and exciting 5 year grant from SAMHSA. The Clinician will provide clinical treatment to the target population as well as education that will increase screening, evaluation and treatment of young children (0-6 year old) who have experienced trauma. This position will be responsible for establishing training processes for dental, medical, and BH providers within UCFS and the community. The long term goal of this project is to educate pediatric providers to better identify trauma symptoms in the target population. This is an opportunity for clinicians to combine defined skills in therapy for the children in the target population as well as education for staff at UCFS and in the community. These staffing positions will be the genesis of a cohort whose specialties involve children ages 0-6.***
UCFS is currently seeking two full-time (35hr) Clinicians for our Norwich Health Center to provide clinical assessment, treatment and client centered care consistent with quality standards of care including evidence-based practices that result in improved health outcomes for clients primarily focused on ages 0-6 regarding psychological, behavioral or emotional problems.
Essential Responsibilities –
- Assess, evaluate and diagnose mental, emotional, developmental and behavioral difficulties in individuals, couples and families based on clinical standard of practice in outpatient based setting.
- Manage and monitor individual productivity through weekly monitoring of short-term and long-term goals.
- Assess level of risk and appropriate level of care with routine and emergency clients of all ages who may present in crisis with complex and long-term mental health and/or substance abuse issues
- Formulate treatment plans and treatment plan reviews based on assessments
- Provide clinical/consultative treatment services that are strength based and client centered to individuals, groups, families and couples
- Maintain line of communication with supervisor and support staff, and coordination of treatment with psychiatrists
- Coordinate services with other relevant providers involved in a given case (e.g., school personnel, Department of Children and Families, courts, etc.)
- Complete all required documentation for treatment planning, billing, and licensure within a timely manner
- Provide support to clients in an integrated health care delivery system
- Participate in professional activities such as: community education sessions, clinical conferences, meeting with representatives of community groups
- Respond to crises, assess need, formulate disposition and implement appropriate level of care
- Teach child development attachment and parenting skills as deemed necessary
- Provide on-call support on site during hours of operation for connected and non-connected clients. Includes, but is not exclusive to arranging for referrals to other levels of care or emergency response, reporting suspected child abuse/neglect to DCF, adhering to legal and ethical guidelines for standards of care.
- Participates in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team
- A minimum of 50% travel may be required

Requirements
Clinician I - Master's degree (M.A., M.F.T., M.S.W.) plus 1 – 3 years experience.
(Internship experience can be counted towards this 1 – 3 year period)
Clinician II – preferred – LCSW, LPC, LMFT and 3-5 years’ experience with client population
ARC Certified or training completed within 6 months of hire and certification 1 year after hire.

- Strong computer skills including effective use EPIC (our electronic health record system)
