Overview
We are recruiting for a dynamic leader to join the team as Director of Data and Analytics in Fresno, CA. This position does report in-person to our Corporate site in Fresno, CA.
The Director of Data and Analytics is involved in many areas of the organization and is responsible for working with department managers, health care professionals and senior level management to determine their information needs, provide data quality, data analysis & utilization, manufacture business performance reports, assist in the development and maintenance of organizational databases, corresponding data repositories and hard copy data. The Director of Data and Analytics requires strong qualitative and quantitative skills including statistics, use of analytical tools, knowledge of finance and operational data, as well as strong computer skills. Incumbents work independently, but with some direct supervision, and must be able to multi-task and prioritize their assignments accordingly as errors at this level can cause delay, expense, and/or disruption to the organization.
Responsibilities
PERFORMANCE AREA - Data Collection, Data Systems Management, Data Reporting and Analysis, Collaboration.
- Determines data needed to be collected and the appropriate data resources for specific data projects including but not limited to computerized systems and hard copy data stores.
- Formulates, implements, and enforces proper data collection policies and procedures
- Trains and educates users on data collection tools, equipment and proper data collection process
- Establishes data quality standards and works with reporting agencies and organization stakeholders to ensure standards are met
- Ensures quality data collection techniques are established for reporting purposes
- Assists in maintaining interfaces between systems that facilitate the transmission and collection of data
- Manages contract with data collection software vendor
- Maintains close working relationship with software vendor
- Ensures data system is operational
- Provides access to reporting agencies to submit data
- Assists reporting agencies with set-up, testing, and implementation of data collection software
- Troubleshoots data submission errors and data error issues
- Ensures that all vendor updates are properly installed and rolled out
- Performs and documents procedures for data preparation including data cleaning, standardization and analysis
- Develops data collection and evaluation methodologies, including format design, project criteria and requirements, data compilation, relevancy and usage.
- Develops and implements evaluation methodology related to various data programs to determine completeness and adequacy of the data collection procedure.
- Understands and ensures privacy law and standards
- Evaluates current systems to improve operations and patient care
- Prepares data reports for distribution
- Develops ad-hoc reports as necessary
- Presents data where needed
- Shares data with other State and Federal agencies, as needed
- Facilitates the transmission of data as needed
- Consults with staff on data and reporting problems and assists in developing means to correct the problems
- Foster relationships with other entities in regards to data collection, reporting and transmission
- Attend and participate in related Data Meetings
- Provides on-going consultation and technical assistanc
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- Knowledge and Experience in Health Information Systems, Health Administration, or a related field, or equivalent education/experience.
- One to three years hands-on experience using MS SQL to administer health related databases with demonstrated experience creating and executing DTS packages.
- MS SQL Reporting Services.
- Experience in the manipulation and analysis of statistical data from large computerized information systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications with a strong knowledge in MS Excel and Access.
- Experience with reporting applications such as Crystal Reports,
- One to three years' strong conceptual and problem solving skills.Knowledge of ICD & CPT codes is an asset.Experience in the preparation of statistical and descriptive reports.Eagerness and ability to learn more applications and contribute to as a team player.
- Effective written, oral, and documentation skills are essential.
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field; and/or equivalent and relevant experience.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
- Possess a valid CA Class C Driver's License
- Must obtain and maintain vendor and industry certifications as directed.
SKILLS
- Will work with a variety of database systems including Microsoft SQL Server, Filemaker Pro, Universe, and other Database Management Systems (DBMS).
- Will work with hard copy data stores and archives
- Assists and supports organizational members and clients with network, database, and application training and technical support; plans and prepares correspondence.
- Knowledge of computer hardware including PCs, monitors, keyboards and mice, and network cabling.
