Description
Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and/or the IS Assistant Director, the Computer Technician is responsible for ensuring that all computer equipment operates efficiently, effectively and is able to meet user requirements at all sites. Responsible for upgrading, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining all systems operational as directed by the CIO, IS Assistant Director, and/or Network/System Administrators. Coordinates with Network/System Administrators to ensure coverage of essential medical practice management system tasks (i.e. backups, shutdowns, and tasks which minimize downtime) and VOIP Phone system coverage. Responsible for compliance with other requirements affecting the Medical Center, such as State/Federal regulations, PCHM, HRSA, and Quality Management (QI/QA.) Requirements
Education:
1. Associate Degree in Computer Technology preferred or comparable work experience.
2. Completion of a technical program with certification in computer technology required.
Experience/Training:
1. Preferred one year knowledge and experience of various hardware/software installations and troubleshooting, preferably in a health care environment.
2. Ability to upgrade and troubleshoot hardware and software packages using system/program manuals.
3. Preferred one year knowledge and experience of MSOffice, Windows, Internet, Intranet, Citrix, and e-mail.

2. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a skillful and effective manner.
3. Ability to work with multiple functions in a stressful environment and make independent judgments. Must be able to cope with varying workloads and interruptions.
4. Ability to travel as required and drive a vehicle.
5. Must have and maintain a current Texas driver’s license in good standing as well as the required vehicle insurance coverage.
6. Must be able to meet the latest IT requirements by keeping informed and knowledgeable of the current IT industry standards.
