The United Methodist Youth Home For over 35 years, the United Methodist Youth Home has served some of Indiana's most vulnerable youth. At UMYH, we provide a variety of programming centered on helping at-risk youth become responsible and productive members of the community. The young people we serve have faced incredibly difficult obstacles and struggle to develop healthy coping skills. They are in need of a delicate balance of care and discipline. The treatment we provide is designed to achieve this, while empowering the youth to overcome the serious traumas they have faced and learn the skills needed to live independently.
Youth Advocate/Residential Counselors. We currently have a need for qualified candidates for the Residential Counselor position for second and third shift. A Residential Counselor provides support and supervision of our youth throughout the course of all daily programming activities. Employees must be 21 years of age, able to pass a criminal background check and drug test, and have a valid driver’s license. Our facility is smoke and drug free.
Responsibilities include:
- Being a positive role model.
- Teaching appropriate behavior.
- Teaching appropriate social skills and life skills.
- Participating in daily programming activities.
- Helping the youth achieve their treatment goals.
Qualifications Required: High School Diploma. This is excellent experience for recent or soon-to-be COLLEGE GRADUATES who are seeking an entry-level position into the Social Service Field. Pay commensurate with education and experience. Employees must be able to pass a criminal background check, including a DCS background check, drug test and have a valid driver’s license. Second and third shift is currently available.
