The United Presbyterian Home seeks a professional RN or LPN to add to our 2nd shift team (2p-10p). This position is responsible for the implementation of the nursing process for the total nursing care of all residents in Health Center and for the supervision of all nursing personnel assigned to assist them in providing nursing care. The RN/LPN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of all residents. This position requires theoretical and practical knowledge and competency in interpersonal relationships, communicating skills and supervisory skills.
FUNCTIONS:
- Interprets and efficiently executes the medical care plan as it relates to nursing, providing skillful, thorough, organized and safe nursing care.
- Performs assessments on residents as necessitated or required
- Passes medications and performs treatments for residents as ordered by their physician
- Abides by Home policies and procedures and interprets them to personnel, residents, staff and public.
- Communicates information regarding the residents’ status to physicians, families and other health care members.
- Assumes responsibility and accountability for individual nursing judgments and actions.
- Helps maintain a safe environment
- Maintains significant and complete records of nursing observations and care.
- Evaluates resident care given by him/herself and other team members in relation to the recognized and interpreted needs of each resident.
- Keeps supervisory personnel informed of any significant changes in resident condition or of any unusual resident care problems.
- Continues professional growth through attendance of in-service meetings, continuing education courses and professional meetings.

- Current license in State of Iowa.
- Previous experience with geriatric patients desirable.
- Have a thorough knowledge of medical, social and psychological needs of residents in long-term care
- Must be willing to perform non-professional duties.
- Must be willing to use deductive thinking to solve problems
- Must be able to supervise and instruct others.
- Must be well-groomed, courteous, tactful, patient, kind and pleasant when dealing with residents and staff.
- Have an acute sense of responsibility.
- Possess a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm in order to create an atmosphere conducive to rehabilitation and growth.
Salary : $35 - $40
