Position Description  


Reporting into the General Counsel, the Counsel will support the Federation in managing the legal affairs of the United States Soccer Federation, Inc. 


Primary Responsibilities 

  • Representing U.S. Soccer in its commercial contract negotiations, including reviewing, drafting, and negotiating sponsorships, licenses, media, consulting agreements, master services agreements, and the like. 
  • Supporting the commercial team in matters involving media and broadcast.
  • Supporting General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer on a variety of legal matters.
  • Providing legal support and oversight of CBA compliance.
  • Offering support in a wide variety of areas, including membership and compliance.
  • Guiding, counseling, and supporting the work of more junior colleagues (e.g., paralegals and interns). 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Juris Doctorate degree.
  • Minimum three to five years’ experience working as an attorney; preferably with some private firm experience.
  • Experience with transactional legal work in commercial transactions.

  • Experience with contract negotiation preferred 
  • Ability to work independently, while coordinating and communicating with other members of the legal/compliance team throughout the process

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Suite as it relates to legal documents (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
