U. S. Steel’s Minnesota Ore Operations is seeking an Electrical Engineer or Electrical Technology student for the summer of 2025. The Internship affords the opportunity to apply educational experiences to real world engineering principals. This position is a temporary full-time position and will be located at Minntac in Mountain Iron, MN. This is a safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing.

This position is a temporary full-time position and will be located at Minntac in Mountain Iron, MN. This is a safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Report directly to electrical maintenance managers and work along-side RCM to improve production at Minntac.
- Apply engineering principles, troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques to evaluate and make decisions that resolve operational conditions and improve reliability.
- Assist in supervising, directing, and coordinating efforts of experienced technicians, craftsmen, and project planners to repair and maintain electrical equipment to maximize operating efficiencies.
- Assist in coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance with a team of mechanical and electrical maintenance staff. Use technical knowledge, equipment documentation, safety procedures and maintenance schedules to follow, improve and develop preventative and routine maintenance programs. Devise and implement cost saving strategies.
- Engage in maintenance planning functions to minimize downtime; investigate process improvements and participate in facilities upgrades.
- Candidates must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineer or Electrical Technology.
- Candidates must be a current student and have completed their sophomore year by June 2024 and be in good academic standing.
- Must have at least a 2.75 GPA, will accept 2.5 with experience.
- Be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
