United Steel is currently seeking a Field Operations ManagerThis position oversees management of all areas of field operations to produce products and direct activities so that approved products are erected on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives

     

    Duties & Responsibilities


    • Assists company officers and senior staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs, and objectives.
    • Develops the field plan, which may include, but not limited to, establishing procedures for maintaining high standards of field erecting to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
    • Generate lift plan for projects as needed using “3D lift plan” software.
    • Create project equipment supplies list by project.
    • Generate a man loaded schedule and work with subcontractors.
    • Achieves optimum employee levels with least amount of overhead and project costs to meet annual budgetary plan.
    • Formulates and recommends field policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
    • Directs and monitors field foreman/supervisors to accomplish goals of the field plan, consistent with established field and safety procedures. Acts as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.
    • Visits project sites to report progress to other team members, particularly the Project Manager and Director of Field Operations.
    • Hires, trains, develops, and evaluates staff. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensures compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consults with Human Resources Department as appropriate.
    • Identifies, recommends, and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, and rework data. Directs the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of production standards.
    • Directs and coordinates various programs essential to field procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).

    Qualifications


    • AS in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or business administration, or a 2-year technical degree in related discipline
    • 10 years of experience in field operations management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related industry.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing as a Field Superintendent.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels in the organization, Customers and Vendors; proven ability to effectively influence and motivate others; must be able to deal with ambiguity and various changing requirements. Must be able to work in and encourage a collaborative environment and to perform positively in high conflict situations.
    • Demonstrated successful project management skills and the ability to contribute to strategic decisions, while driving detailed implementation plans.
    • High energy level/outgoing personality
    • Strong sense of urgency and ability to work through bid process and address customer needs and request and balancing business needs.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
    • Develops effective working relationships, which foster integrity, trust, and respect.
    • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Experience working with sensitive and confidential information with a high degree of integrity and judgment.
    • The ability to work will all levels within the organization is essential to this position is the ability to maintain a professional relationship with staff, co-workers and the laws.


    Working Conditions

     

    • This is a full-time position that regularly requires long hours and frequent, local travel.
    • Sometimes exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures when working outdoors
