Bon Secours Surgery Center at Harbour View is seeking a Full-time Medical Records Clerk . We are a busy multispecialty surgery center serving Northern Suffolk and an affiliate of United Surgical Partners International (USPI) .

Job Description :
The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for collecting, maintaining , and making available to authorized users timely , accurate and complete patient health information.
Safeguards the medical records while making them readily accessible at all times. These activities are to be performed in compliance with the philosophies, policies, procedures, goals, and budgets as established by the governing board and corporate offices as well as all Federal, State, and local laws .
Requires a high level of professional judgment and discretion in carrying out assignments, the ability to problem solve, a high degree of confidentiality, and the ability to work under pressure.
Must be able to work well with physicians and employees on sensitive issues, communicate in a professional manner and be able to use persuasion to accomplish com pliance .
The successful candidate will project a professional demeanor and appearance while maintaining the confidentiality of administration, patients, physicians and employees.
Areas of Responsibility : (include but not limited to the following)
Medical Records :
Chart preparation and daily scanning
Custodian of Medical Records - r eceives and copies requests for medical records
Audit medical reco rds for accuracy and completion
Timely follow-up with physicians regarding charting deficiencies
Filing and maintenance of documents in the medical record
Collaborate with billing company to assure complete medical record is submitted for accurate and timely billing
Registration : provides back-up
Other Office Functions : ot her clerical duties as determined
Qualifications :
Education : High School Graduate
Experience :
One (1) year previous medical records experience preferable in a hospital or clinical environment REQUIRED
Ability to work independently and use time wisely to meet high-pace d demand
Knowledge of medical terminology
Good command of the English language, both verbal and written
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
