United Way of Lane County is seeking an enthusiastic and engaged Education Project Manager who will provide staff supervision and project management to United Way of Lane County's early learning, parenting/family support, and other education efforts. The ideal candidate will manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with complex work.

The Education Program Manager works closely with all UWLC staff and departments, particularly Marketing & Communications staff; businesses; donors; nonprofit agency partners; community service groups; government agencies. This position is connected to and engaged with local United Ways and United Way Worldwide colleagues for continuous learning, growth and consideration of new ideas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

The successful candidate will be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

  • Grounds community building efforts in anti-racism, challenging systemic oppression, equity, wealth disparity, intersectionality, and other areas important to social justice.
  • Understands and can implement concepts of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging into work; works together to identify opportunities and unintended consequences of projects or policies within their work.
  • Manages and facilitates education, family support and parenting education related projects while developing and fostering positive, strategic relationships with external partner organizations and subcontractors.
  • Supervises and oversees the work of Education Coordinators and Specialists.
  • Designs and leads projects and engagement processes; coordinates with others to establish common goals, working agreements, project timelines and deliverables.
  • Communicates constructively, cultivates self-awareness and emotional intelligence, reflects on how to improve.
  • Communicates effectively in writing with ability to create or collaborate in grant making, parenting/early childhood education blogs, or other similar tasks.
  • Conducts sub-grant application and selection processes, including overseeing the contracting process, tracking budgets, and reporting.
  • Enhances partner and subcontractor effectiveness through technical assistance, consultation, resource sharing and by assisting with collaborative efforts.
  • Manages and facilitates regular meetings and training opportunities for internal team and external partners. Represents community partners, projects and initiatives at forums, meetings, and other community events.
  • Provides a high degree of accuracy, quality and professionalism in developing documents, reports, proposals, and other correspondence.
  • Approaches problems with a systems-level perspective, provides and implements feedback and suggests solutions to streamline and add value to processes.
  • Experience and comfort in public speaking



REQUIRED/NECESSARY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of relevant, professional level experience in project management, community engagement, or similar; OR
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience with applicable degree or certification in project management, non-profit management, communications, human services, or similar
  • And 1-2 years of supervisory experience

Minimum Skills and Knowledge include:

  • Ability to use culturally appropriate communication to clearly and concisely correspond, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to track and organize records, contracts, subcontracts, budgets, and reports.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Be responsive to emails and phone calls.
  • Use sound judgement in decision making.
  • Flexible and able to respond to shifting priorities and competing demands.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.

SALARY STATEMENT

The budgeted lifespan salary range for this position is currently $50,400 to $60,480 annually. Proffered salaries are determined by several factors including applicant's knowledge, skills, experience, position, equity, and market.
