POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, Corporate Engagement is a results-driven professional who is passionate about the power of corporate social responsibility to make long-lasting community change through the United Way of the National Capital Area’s (United Way NCA) mission and community impact-focused strategic objectives.

The Manager, Corporate Engagement is responsible for maintaining and increasing annual revenue through the ideation, development, and implementation of comprehensive yearly giving plans for current, lapsed, and prospective corporate partners. United Way’s unique strength is its connection with the corporate sector through its history of workplace campaigns, which serve as the gateway for deeper and long-term engagement with the corporate sector. The accounts include but are not limited to revenue sources of 1) Workplace Campaigns, 2) Grantmaking, and 3) Sponsorships. In addition, as part of the Fundraising team, the Manager, Corporate Engagement, will identify and recommend individuals for leadership engagement from corporations to expand participation in our affinity groups and drive revenue.

Internally this position will work closely with Volunteer Engagement to support the implementation of meaningful volunteer engagement opportunities for corporate partners to inspire a more profound connection to the mission and programs of United Way NCA. The Manager, Corporate Engagement, will also be responsible for representing the Fundraising team on an annual project or event and leading the team in meeting revenue and engagement goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

  • Portfolio Management

o Directly responsible for managing a portfolio of corporate partners generating $1M in annual revenue designated to United Way NCA.

o Increase annual revenue by 3% - 5% from corporate partners through workplace campaign allocations, grants, and sponsorships.

o Identify new corporate partners to add to the portfolio for holistic philanthropic support through workplace giving, grantmaking, and sponsorships.

o Serve as the primary point of contact for corporate partner relationship management to key staff responsible for workplace campaign employee giving, corporate social responsibility, and volunteer engagement.

o Create annual stewardship plans for current, lapsed, and prospective corporate partners, reflecting their giving data, areas of interest, and entry points to the organization.

o Maintain complete records on the assigned accounts, results, and campaign activities using the CRM.

  • Corporate Partner Engagement

o In collaboration with the Community Impact Volunteer Engagement team, provide counsel and recommendations for annual employee engagement and volunteerism.

o Identify corporate partners to take leadership roles in United Way NCA initiatives and special events, including but not limited to annual giving days, in-community service, and initiatives to advance programs and services for community pillars of health, education, and economic opportunity.

o Organize and attend corporate partner engagement-related events.

o Represent United Way at community functions and activities to network and help promote and develop additional business through the development and expansion of referral sources.

o Collaborate with the Finance department to leverage employee giving and engagement platforms (ex. ePledge, Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud, Benevity, Your Cause) and other technologies for more efficient revenue collection to cause positive financial impact.

  • Donor Engagement

o In collaboration with Senior Manager, Donor Engagement, identify individual donors from workplace campaigns for personal engagement, including but not limited to Young Philanthropists, Women United, and Regional Councils.

o In collaboration with the VP, Development & Donor Engagement and SVP, Marketing & Fundraising, identify and make recommendations for the Tocqueville Society, United Way’s significant giving society.

o In collaboration with the Corporate Engagement team and Marketing, make recommendations for an annual communications plan to inform and engage corporate partners that advance the goals and objectives of United Way NCA.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of five years in fundraising and sales, with demonstrated experience in corporate giving, including employee giving, grantmaking, and sponsorships.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet predetermined revenue goals.
  • A minimum bachelor’s degree.
  • Ability to engage corporate partners in the annual moves management cycle of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a proven track record of taking concepts from ideation to implementation, ensuring consistent internal and external goals, objectives, and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: working with diverse audiences internally and externally.
  • Superior and professional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working within a “team” fundraising and sales environment, leveraging shared resources to grow revenue and engagement opportunities.
  • Self-starter; ability to work independently and build new relationships
  • Proficiency in database management and Microsoft Office tools.
