Title: Network Facilitator
United Way of Northern Utah Mission: We Unite people and organizations to build a healthy, and well-educated community where individuals, families, and neighborhoods thrive.
Goal: United Way of Northern Utah is seeking a Network Facilitator to support the Ogden Food Council and provide leadership on local food system efforts. This position will support the development and implementation of community level strategies related to policy, community education, and community collaboration to ensure all Ogden residents are food secure and have access to healthy and culturally appropriate foods.
Summary of Work: The Network Facilitator’s core function is to facilitate impactful partnerships that are capable of community level change. This requires a unique individual who thinks in terms of systems and has the adaptive skill set to work across sectors, political perspectives, and beyond any individual program. Competencies such as results-based facilitation, systems thinking, continuous improvement, and adaptive leadership are key for this role. Facilitating a network is not for everyone. We seek a capable, energetic, results-focused team member who is comfortable with ambiguity and ready to take this work to the next level.
Key Responsibilities

Network Facilitation
-
Act as the ‘backbone staff’ of the Ogden Food Council, build on the excellent work that has been done to date by ensuring newly launched strategies are well aligned, monitored for impact, and build involvement from food system sectors.
Engage government agencies, school districts, service providers, health providers, agricultural producers, food businesses, universities, data partners, community members, and any other relevant partners in moving toward system change through meaningful action.
Ensure the Council and its workgroups develop shared accountability to community level outcomes and measure impact both at the program level and the community level.
Work with Council members, partners, and workgroups to facilitate action between meetings.

Present to the United Partnership Council (local leadership body) sharing the progress of the group and seeking help to address systemic barriers.
Strategy Development and Implementation

Using Results-Based Action Cycles, monitor network strategies for impact tracking both outputs and outcomes.
Work alongside research and evaluation partners to develop and implement data-driven processes and systems to inform the work.
Supervise the Corner Store Organizer as they aim to build relationships with corner store owners/managers in the East Central neighborhood.

Partnership Manager

Serve as key point of contact with agency partners on matters related to the United Partnership
Effectively work within Ogden Civic Action Network (OgdenCAN) and United Partnership structures.

Other Duties

Attend and participate in other local, regional, and state level meetings as requested.
Actively participate in work related to grant writing, fundraising, and sustainability of the initiative with corporate, foundation, and government representatives, as well as individual donors.
Maintain the Ogden Food Council’s social media presence and ensure that the website is accurate, appealing, and updated.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field (e.g. public health, education, social sciences, human services, etc.)
Have experience as a facilitator
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple institutions
Hard worker, organized, aware of both details and the big picture
Equity mindset and comfortable discussing issues of race, socio-economics, and inequality in politically diverse settings
High standards of professional ethics and conduct
Excellent oral and written communication

Preferred Qualifications:

Bicultural/bilingual English/Spanish
Master’s degree in related field
3-5 years working in human services or related field
Experience managing large, complex, multi-stakeholder projects
Experience with Results Based Accountability and Results Based Facilitation
Familiarity and history of service within the landscape of community development and social services networks in Ogden
Wage: $50,000-57,000 based on experience and qualifications
Location: Ogden, UT (with hybrid/remote option)
Hours: Full-time, exempt. United Way hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. United Way strives for employees to have great work-life balance and allows for remote work assuming it does not interfere with productivity, results, and/or quality of relationships with partners. Work hours are subject to change based on United Way events and activities happening in the community
