Positions in this function under minimal supervision, organizes and manages the operation of the clinic/department, assuring the continuity and quality of patient care by following appropriate clinic protocols and the supervision and evaluation of staff.  Assists the CPM/Director/Facility Medical Director in day to day management of reception, Medical Assistant and Pharm Tech staff. 


Primary Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with all members of the department health care team ensuring smooth patient flow within department.  Uses Standard tools to monitor individual and departmental performance on key metrics
  • Determines appropriate staffing mix and amount to meet routine and special patient needs and arranges staff coverage. Responsible for the day-to-day operations.  Takes a leadership role in problem solving with employees and patients
  • Directs work of staff, including supervision, hiring, and terminations; determine staffing needs, and ensure efficient utilization of staff. Monitor skill development and performance of the staff.  Provides orientation for all new staff and coaches for high performance. Gives regular performance feedback and conducts performance appraisals         
  • Meets regularly with CPM and physicians.  Performs other duties including monitoring budget expectations as indicated by CPM, researching and resolving customer complaints.
  • Communicates information to all staff, manager and physicians as necessary.  Conducts staff meetings as needed.  Leads and/or Participates in departmental quality improvement and service excellence activities.  Researches and resolves clinical quality issues

  • Frequently must follow written and oral instructions as well as complete routine tasks independently
  • Completes annual compliance training on HIPAA/Privacy/Confidentiality/Non-Discrimination/Harassment/Integrity Statement and signs Agreements
  • Ensures confidentiality of patient information following HIPAA guidelines and TEC policies
  • Attends training to meet requirements of the job position and as needed or mandated by TEC policies, Div. of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH), OSHA, L&I and other state/federal regulations
  • Has regular and predictable attendance

Required Qualification:

  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education:  High School Diploma, or GED.  If clinical, completion of formal Medical Assistant program with WA State certification 
  • Certificate/License: American Heart Association BLS (classroom live skills component) certification. If clinical, BLS certification required
  • Experience:  2 years of current experience working in a clinical setting. Demonstrated supervisory skills preferred but not required
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Note that these requirements are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the knowledge, skill, and ability required to perform this job
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of ADA, Fitness for Duty, FMLA policy, HIV counseling procedures & blood borne pathogen protocols, WISHA/OSHA mandated regulations, Personal protective equipment, Hazards materials, and Infection control procedures
  • Skills: Demonstrates ability to carry out skills, as outlined in the Medical Assistant job description, for clinical areas in accordance with clinical standards and clinic policy. Skill in applying & modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional medical assistance to provide on-going patient care. Knowledge and ability to teach and apply current theories, techniques and practice. Critical thinking skills, ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Abilities: Reads, speaks, understands and writes clearly in English. Works with initiative, energy and effectiveness in a fast-paced environment. Ability to  effectively communicate (verbal & written) in interpersonal relationships with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers. Ability to function effectively in emergency situations. Ability to  take responsibility for own professional growth and development

Must be able to frequently stand and walk from place to place for long periods of time with intermittent breaks.  Must be able to run during an emergency.  Must be able to frequently use hands and fingers to handle, grasp or feel objects, tools, controls and medical or office equipment.  Must be able to frequently repeat the same movements. Must be able to make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls and move arms and legs quickly.   Must be able to speak clearly so listeners can understand and be able to understand the speech of another person.  Must be able to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.  Must have a level of visual acuity to be able to see details of objects from near and far and see differences between colors, shades and brightness and determine the distance between objects.  May have periods of prolonged sitting in connection with telephone or computer usage.    Must able to use muscles to lift, push, pull or carry heavy objects.  Occasionally may be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 24 pounds.  Must be able to bend, stretch, stoop, twist, squat, kneel, crawl, push/pull, grasp, handle or reach out.  Must be able to move two or more limbs together while remaining in place.  Must be able to coordinate the movements of several parts of the body, such as arms and legs, while the body is moving. Must be able to demonstrate proper body mechanics to support physical activity for long periods without getting tired or out of breath. Must be able to keep or regain the body’s balance or stay upright when in an unstable position.

Can involve dealing with sick patients. With frequent exposure to communicable/infectious diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Interaction with others is busy, constant and occasionally interruptive. Typical office conditions and noise level is usually quiet. Work may be demanding at times. May require ability to work irregular hours.
