UnitedHealth Group businesses operate under regulatory licenses, which are governed by state insurance laws and federal and state banking regulations. Entities are required to maintain defined levels of liquidity and capital to support the businesses. Cash Management ensures appropriate levels of liquidity are available with Investment management investing the capital of each entity within the context of investment policies, guidelines, and regulatory limits. Each entity’s assets are allocated between cash and investments to optimize the risk/return profile of the overall portfolio. This is done by investing in a diversified manner across high-quality asset classes emphasizing fixed income securities. In addition, there are regulatory requirements for effectively identifying, quantifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting risk exposures. We are seeking to hire a Treasury Consultant to support the liquidity of the portfolio along with needed reporting.
Treasury is a key organizational function whose stakeholders include the board of directors, senior management, regulators, and credit rating agencies. The process of managing capital must meet regulatory requirements while at the same time balancing the desire for income to maximize the economic value of the portfolio and providing liquidity. This exciting cash management role is an immersion into the world of liquidity management, from an accounting, market, and entity level perspective. The Treasury Consultant will contribute to the analysis, reporting, and compliance monitoring of UnitedHealth Group’s liquidity position across numerous entities. The successful candidate will leverage industry best practices and apply them to internal processes to efficiently manage cash activities. In addition, establish and/or maintain effective working relationships throughout the organization, both at the corporate level and within the businesses to ensure access to information required to optimally manage each entities liquidity position.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Execute/Approve funds transfers for business areas
- Process/Approve daily cash transfers via treasury workstation and bank portals
- Monitor cash balances across UnitedHealth Group bank accounts and remediate as needed
- Assist with reconciliation process within the treasury workstation
- Monitor and manage the process of bringing bank files into the treasury workstation
- Assesses and satisfies reporting requests from internal and external constituents
- Invest cash in accordance with statutory and internal guidelines
- Perform comprehensive short- and long-term cash flow forecasts to determine operational liquidity needs at entity level
- Work with Investment Management to identify excess/deficit cash positions along with implementation of solutions
- Identify, propose, and implement areas for improvement within the existing Cash Management functions
- Management of Cash Management audit requests
- Work with business areas, and states, along with Investment Management to meet restricted deposit requirements
- Assist with the implementation of new treasury management system
- Manage monthly metrics and management reports for Cash Management
- Assist with integration of newly acquired entities into the standard Cash Management processes and procedures

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3-6 years of experience in cash management/corporate treasury
- Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Ability to work in a team-oriented and time sensitive environment that blends the structure of daily, monthly, and quarterly deadlines with the dynamics of a changing financial market and business conditions
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong analytical (quantitative and qualitative) and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) or Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) designations
- Experience working with commercial payment processing systems (ACH, FedWire, card processing)
- Experience with treasury systems and integration projects
